This variegated variety of Catasetum pileatum has bright yellow marginal variegation, remarkable floral dimorphism and highly fragrant blooms. The showy male flowers are architectural marvels—waxy, often greenish-white or cream with a distinct helmet-like lip and can reach over 13 cm  in diameter. The smaller female flowers resemble upside-down slippers. Both forms are noted for their delightful fragrance.
