This uncommon variety is distinguished by having a lip that is almost completely bright yellow and edged in purple, a striking departure from the typical crimson-purple lip with gold veining. Documented historically, a plant with this trait was described by Robert Allen Rolfe in 1892 as C. dowiana var. statteriana, notable for its almost completely yellow lip bordered with lilac-rose. The flowers are large, fragrant, and bear the characteristic golden-yellow petals of the species, while the lip becomes a bold, luminous yellow, creating a spectacular and highly prized collector's specimen.
