This uncommon and highly sought after Cattleya species is also known as the queen of Cattleya for its large flowers and unique lips. The aurea form is a 3N variety with larger flowers of around 15 cm in size. The flowers have a strong fragrance. The lips of the flowers are dark red in colour, with yellow veins and wavy edges.
