Unlike the typical forms of the species, var. sanderiana is distinguished by its larger vegetive stature—pseudobulbs reaching over 20 cm—and even more impressive flowers, which can exceed 25 cm in natural spread. The flowers display a distinctive lavender coloration across the sepals and petals, complemented by a broad, ruffled lip featuring two symmetrical, showy yellow markings in the throat.
