This miniature terrestrial jewel orchid is prized primarily for its velvety foliage: the leaves are oval to elliptic, held close to the forest floor, and display a dark green to deep olive base with subtle lighter veining or blotches. The species name stenoglossa means "narrow tongue," referring to the small, pale whitish to greenish flowers borne on short upright inflorescences in fall.
