This remarkable species, endemic to the lower montane forests of Papua New Guinea, features slender, clustered pseudobulbs, each crowned with a single, narrow, leathery leaf. The plant produces successive, single flowers from the apex of the pseudobulb that are truly spectacular, reaching an impressive 9 cm in width. The long, narrow, lance-like petals and sepals give the flower a spidery appearance.
