Momoyama Daruma is a rare dwarf mutation of Momoyama Nishiki 桃山錦 seedlings. The plant is propagated from a division of the original plant found amongst hundreds of seedlings. The plant has dark green foliage with strongly defined white shima variegation, having a strong contract. The wide variegation on the top leaves indicates its potential to grow into a compact clump with wide variegations. The plant remains compact and is around half the size of Momoyama Nishiki. The flowers are pure white in colour, around 4 cm in size and have a strong jasmine-like fragrance.
